Bishop T.D. Jakes has handed over leadership of The Potter’s House in Dallas to his daughter, Sarah Jakes Roberts, and her husband, Touré Roberts. The announcement was made during a Sunday service, streamed live to the church’s global audience.

After nearly fifty years in ministry, Bishop Jakes described the transition not as a departure, but as a “rebirth.” He said, “This moment isn’t an ending, it’s an expansion.” His decision follows a health scare in November, when he suffered a heart attack. Reflecting on that, he told the congregation, “I’ve seen too many men build something and stay so long that they kill what they built.”

Sarah and Touré Roberts already lead ONE | A Potter’s House Church and have been overseeing operations since November. Now, they officially step into the role of leading The Potter’s House forward.

Bishop Jakes will continue preaching and focus on broader ministry and community work. “I will never stop preaching and will continue to minister,” he affirmed.

This handover marks a turning point for The Potter’s House, as it moves into a new phase under the next generation of leadership, building on nearly three decades of foundation.
